My journey to personal styling is deeply personal, and far from typical.
I am a survivor of abuse. I am also queer, trans, and autistic. When I was younger, clothes helped me hide who I was, giving me access to relative safety in the far right environment I grew up in. Once I broke free and moved to London, everything changed. I stopped hiding who I was and started using style to discover, embrace and celebrate my identities. In this way, after years of repression, my style became incredibly liberating. I built confidence and improved my relationship with myself, but also the world around me. The more empowered I became in my personal style, the more I discovered who I was, and the more easily I found the people and community I needed in order to heal.
Don’t get me wrong, I still use style as a tool to gain access to safety. For example, choosing an outfit most likely to get me through a day without getting hate crimed, when my resilience feels too low to handle that. At other times, I dress to feel powerful and liberated, celebrating my full, authentic self. It’s having choice, the skill to pull off all options with style, and knowledge to ensure I feel good in my body no matter what, that transforms clothes into a tool for empowerment. It’s these tools I seek to pass on.

After experiencing style in this way (as a tool for empowerment!) I decided to qualify as a personal stylist and launched my business in 2020.
I was working in social social care at the time, with 10 years of support work in education, charity, and social sectors under my belt. However much I loved this career, I knew it would not be accessible to me long term as a trans, queer, autistic or traumatised person. I also knew that whatever work I was doing, I wanted to help people.
So, I decided to turn my attention to supporting people through clothes, driven by the incredible ways clothes have helped me through my life. I brought the unique interpersonal skills developed in care work with me, creating personal styling services that offer a truly transformational experience to everyone I work with.
I am beyond grateful for the breadth of personal styling experience I have gained, enabling me to work with incredible LGBTQ+ and queer people across London, and even the globe! Everyone I work with is unique, carrying with them their own stories of resilience, joy, liberation, empowerment, strength… Incredible beauty that I support people to see in themselves, and celebrate through personal style!

I want to live in a world where trans, queer and LGBTQ+ people can love and celebrate who they are, and gain access to every opportunity that self love, self compassion, and confidence opens the door to! Personal style provides powerful tools, supporting individuals to achieve that.
So… I am on a mission to support trans, queer and LGBTQ+ people utilise clothes as a tool for empowerment!
